The Lacuna Coil show last night kicked the proverbial ass, if you must know. Stolen Babies was quite a bit of fun to watch and listen to (great vocalist, really versatile...and anyone who can incorporate the accordion into metal successfully deserves a shrine built in her honor.) In This Moment was fairly standard screaming-chick-fronted metal, and Within Temptation had a few decent power metal odes to mother goddesses, but Lacuna Coil got to headline this tour for a reason...there are few who can perform synchronized windmilling like these guys and gal. Oh, and they make some pretty sweet metal to boot. I'd totally post pictures, but in my finals-induced haze I managed to forget my camera and could only take shitty camera-phone pics...so if anyone knows how to get those on to a computer harddrive, let me know and I shall post pics for your viewing pleasure.

That said, back to studying I go. More ramblings will be coming shortly.

What is WRONG with parents today?!

And why are there 230 calories in one package of Reese's peanut butter cups?
I find it curious that the South Korean government has recently apologized in light of the actions of the Virginia Tech shooter, a South Korean national. It's unfortunate that people like this shooter do exist, but given that they do, it had to be someone. If the shooter had emigrated from, say, Italy, over a decade ago, would the Italian government feel compelled to issue such a statement of apology?

A Korean schoolmate of mine chalked the South Korean apology up to South Korean culture, which is less concerned with individuality than the U.S. (and perhaps to an extent the other Western nations) and sees the failings of any one of its "exports" (for lack of a better word) as its own failing. Is it really that simple? Is it more rooted in diplomacy? Fear of racist backlash? Is this issue even worth discussing? I just found it ponder-worthy, is all.

Enjoy :-)

Personality

You are more logical than emotional, more concerned about others than concerned about self, more atheist than religious, more dependent than loner, more lazy than workaholic, more traditional than rebel, more artistic mind than engineering mind, more cynical than idealist, more leader than follower, and more introverted than extroverted.

As for specific personality traits, you are adventurous (95%), intellectual (93%), greedy (59%), romantic (57%).

Stereotypes

Emo Kid

89%

Punk Rock

87%

Young Professional

82%

Life Experience

Sex

15%

Substances

11%

Travel

29%

			Politics
Your political views would best be described as Liberal, whom you agree with around 59% of the time.

			Socioeconomic
Your attitude toward life best associates you with Middle Class. I can't think of a more exciting way to go broke.

Now if only I could get an internship for the rest of the summer, things might be that much closer to perfect.

And while I'm on the topic of approaching perfection, have I mentioned that I finally got a car? Yeah. Things can only go downhill from here.

    <lj:music>Nemo -- Nightwish</lj:music>

Last night, after experiencing an approximately year-long metal show dry spell, I managed to drag my ass to an Iron Maiden show at the Continental Airlines Arena in NJ. Photos may or may not be posted here at some point, depending on how inclined I feel to upload them to the intarwebs.

In any case, while a Maiden show can never be described as a negative experience, I must admit I was slightly disappointed at the rather unusual choice of format: Maiden's new album, A Matter of Life and Death, played in its entirety, with five Maiden classics played at the end of the show to ward off any potential fan riots. The new tracks are quite good, but lack the sentimental value of the older Maiden stuff (not to mention I hadn't gotten a chance to actually listen to the new stuff until last night, which made for a lot of head-bobbing but not a lot of singing along, which is teh sadness.)

I guess what must be said is that last night's show seemed like little more than a somewhat pricey promo (not to mention the fact that big-arena rock shows are not exactly my preference...security made me leave the chain from my chain wallet outside the venue; I mean, really, considering the show revolved around a genre of music which induces your average listener to surgically implant metal spikes in various sensitive parts of the anatomy while simultaneously worshipping various dark lords, what harm could my Hot Topic-esque chain wallet really do?) I don't regret that I went at all, though; I just wish there could have been more singing along and moshing-like activity.

Eh, there's always Fear Factory in December, or so Geoffrey tells me. I look forward to being taken to the hospital at that point, or I want my goddam money back.

So, for those of you who are as of yet unaware (highly unlikely that any such souls exist), my newfound faith in the opposite sex was apparently unfounded.

But on the up side, I now possess some kickass lingerie. And I won't have to cook anytime in the near future.

In more important news, finals have begun to amass on the horizon. Onward to academic victory!

And then, beer and sausages with the sexy menschen in Germany.

I've got all my life to live
And I've got all my love to give
And I'll survive.

:D

So, I appeal to all you trendy fashionistas sitting so humbly and inconspicuously on my F-list.

What does a professional woman in her mid-twenties wear on a date to a nice restaurant? In other words, what is slightly more formal than a band t shirt and blue jeans and slightly less formal than an evening gown or suit?

This information is for a friend of mine, of course. I'm not fashion illiterate or anything.

And by the way, I'm on spring break right now. Partay.

    <lj:music>Hips Don't Lie -- Shakira</lj:music>

I am so going to have a nervous breakdown. This semester has been seriously lacking in strategically-placed vacations. Hopefully spring break will prove to be relaxing, but that's also looking unlikely.

And on that note, T-Pain thinks he's got it bad, being in love with a stripper. I'm in love with a law student and trust me, that is no picnic either. But then again, neither is being a law student.

On Wednesday I argue my appellate brief in front of a panel of "judges" and don't get graded for it. Funny thing is, this oral argument scares me more than most finals I've taken. There's something about being humiliated in public that really trumps failing a class but being the only person who knows about it. Figure that one out.
